Forthright / FORUM is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a stable, hands-on accounting position in a collaborative environment where accuracy, accountability, and ownership matter.
This is a hybrid position requiring one day per week in the office after onboarding and training. Candidates must live within commuting distance of the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. Initial training and onboarding may require additional in-office time for up to 3 months.

Key Responsibilities
• Support monthly and year-end close processes
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Prepare monthly financial statements for leadership review
• Identify discrepancies, research variances, and resolve accounting issues
• Support annual audit requests and financial reporting documentation
• Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
• Prepare and analyze cash flow reports
• Support accounts payable processes, ACH payments, wire transfers, and vendor payments
• Assist with sales tax and unclaimed property processes
• Process bi-weekly payroll for the organization
• Maintain payroll and employee records within ADP and related systems
• Process employee changes including new hires, compensation updates, and terminations
• Reconcile benefit invoices and payroll-related accounts
• Support payroll compliance and reporting activities
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills REQUIRED
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations
• Payroll experience preferred but not required; willingness to learn payroll processing through ADP is essential
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter with an ownership mentality and strong follow-through
• Comfortable handling payroll responsibilities as part of the role
Important Notes About This Role
This is a hands-on accounting position. Candidates must be comfortable managing both accounting and payroll responsibilities as part of the role.
Advanced Excel proficiency is essential for success in this position. Candidates should be comfortable working with complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and large datasets.
